My favourite time as a young child was when I was read to every night. Cuddling under my covers and listening to the expression in my parent’s voice as they helped create the magic through the words of that book. It was also fun to trace around the creative drawings and hope that one day, I could draw like that. Then I learnt to read and a whole new world opened up to me. My curious mind wanted to find answers to all the questions I had. I could at last explore libraries and find a quiet corner to enjoy the incredible books surrounding me. As I grew into a young woman, I especially looked forward to going home during the holidays, cuddling up around the fire place and listening to my Mum reading some of our favourite classics. This is a tradition that I continued on with my own children and will do so with my grandchildren one day. Reading has connected my family to the power of knowledge, creativity and let us not forget curiosity.
